Walking With the Trinity
When you go on a journey, do you have a list of all the things you want to bring with you? What if your list could only have three things on it? What would you bring?
In the Gospel (Mark 6:7-13) , the apostles are only allowed to bring three things: a walking stick, sandals, and one tunic.
The walking stick helps them not to fall and supports them when they are tired. Our “walking stick” is our Heavenly Father. He helps us to keep going.
The sandals remind us that we are on a journey. We’re going somewhere! And we’re following in the footsteps of Someone’s sandals. We’re not alone! Jesus is with us.
The tunic keeps us warm and safe. It is a sign of our human dignity. The Holy Spirit has given us his fire and protection. At baptism, he has clothed us with the great dignity of being children of God.
Let us walk together in the companionship of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
