Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.
O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.
Psalm 16:1-2, 5-11
Preserve me, God, I take refuge in you. I say to the Lord: “You are my God. My happiness lies in you alone.” O Lord, it is you who are my portion and cup; it is you yourself who are my prize. The lot marked out for me is my delight: welcome indeed the heritage that falls to me! I will bless the Lord who gives me counsel, who even at night directs my heart. I keep the Lord ever in my sight: since he is at my right hand, I shall stand firm. And so my heart rejoices, my soul is glad; even my body shall rest in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead, nor let your beloved know decay. You will show me the path of life, the fullness of joy in your presence, at your right hand happiness for ever.
Reading: Isaiah 55:6-7
Seek the Lord while he may be found, call him while he is near. Let the scoundrel forsake his way, and the wicked man his thoughts; Let him turn to the Lord for mercy; to our God, who is generous in forgiving.
The Canticle of Mary
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.
Teach us to serve you in those around us. Lord, build up your people. Help us to forgive those who have wronged us. Lord, build up your people. Illuminate those who do not know you. Lord, build up your people.
Dear Father, Each new day is a gift from you. May our work today bring glory to your name. We ask this through Jesus your Son in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
