Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.
O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.
Psalm 54:1-6, 8-9
O God, save me by your name; by your power, uphold my cause. O God, hear my prayer; listen to the words of my mouth. For proud men have risen against me, ruthless men seek my life. They have no regard for God. But I have God for my help. The Lord upholds my life. I will sacrifice to you with willing heart and praise your name for it is good: for you have rescued me from all my distress and my eyes have seen the downfall of my foes.
Reading: Hebrews 12:1-3
Since we are surrounded by this cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every encumberance of sin which clings to us and persevere in running the race which lies ahead; let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, who inspires and perfects our faith. For the sake of the joy which lay before him he endured the cross, heedless of its shame. He has taken his seat at the right of the throne of God. Remember how he endured the opposition of sinners; hence do not gorw depondent or abandon the struggle.
The Canticle of Mary
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.
Intercessions
Today Jesus made known his plan of love to his disciples. Let us pray to him: May we always be faithful to you, Lord, you are our hope! May we always seek to find you, Lord, you are our hope! Forgive us our sins, Lord, you are our hope!
Heavenly Father, Forgive us for the times we have turned away from you. With your help may we always try to keep your love for us in our minds. We ask this through Jesus your Son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
