May 12 2023 Daily Prayer

Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.

O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.
Antiphon: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Psalm 119:25-32

My soul lies in the dust;
by your word revive me.
I declared my ways and you answered:
teach me your statutes.

Make me grasp the way of your precepts
and I will muse on your wonders.
My soul pines away with grief;
by your word raise me up.

Keep me from the way of error
and teach me your law.
I have chosen the way of truth
with your decrees before me.

I bind myself to do your will;
Lord, do not disappoint me.
I will run the way of your commands;
you give freedom to my heart.
Antiphon: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Reading: From a sermon by Blessed Isaac of Stella

In his own body on the cross Christ bore what he had washed from his body by the waters of baptism. Bringing salvation through wood and through water, he is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world which he took upon himself. Himself a priest, he offers himself as sacrifice to God, and he himself is God. Thus, through his own self, the Son is reconciled to himself as God, as well as to the Father and to the Holy Spirit.

The Canticle of Mary

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

Intercessions

May we strive to do what pleases you.
Raise us up in glory!
Free us from our sins and fill us with your grace.
Raise us up in glory!
Grant peace to your people and to the whole world.
Raise us up in glory!
Dear Jesus,
As we joyfully celebrate our Resurrection may we keep in mind its saving power. We ask the Father for this in your name in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
