July 21 2023 Daily Prayer

Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.

O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.

Psalm 100

Cry out with joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness.
Come before him, singing for joy.

Know that he, the Lord, is God.
He made us, we belong to him,
we are his people, the sheep of his flock.

Go within his gates, giving thanks.
Enter his courts with songs of praise.
Give thanks to him and bless his name.

Indeed, how good is the Lord,
eternal his merciful love.
He is faithful from age to age.

Reading: Ephesians 2:8-9

It is owed to his favor that salvation is yours through faith. This is not your own doing, it is God’s gift; neither is it a reward for anything you have accomplished, so let no one pride himself on it.

The Canticle of Mary

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

Intercessions

Restrain us from every evil impulse.
Lord, pour out your mercy upon us.
Fill us with your Holy Spirit.
Lord, pour out your mercy upon us.
Cleanse us from our sins.
Lord, pour out your mercy upon us.
Dear Jesus,
Increase our faith, strengthen our hope and fill our hearts with love for you. We ask the Father for this in your name in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
