August 18 2023 Daily Prayer

Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.

O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.

Canticle Revelation 15:3-4

Mighty and wonderful are your works,
Lord God Almighty!
Righteous and true are your ways,
O King of the nations!

Who would dare refuse you honor,
or the glory due your name, O Lord?

Since you alone are holy,
all nations shall come
and worship in your presence.
Your mighty deeds are clearly seen.

Reading: Micah 6:6-8

With what shall I come before the Lord,
and bow before God most high?
Shall I come before him with holocausts,
with calves a year old?
Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
with myriad streams of oil?
Shall I give my first-born for my crime,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

You have been told, O man, what is good,
and what the Lord requires of you:
Only to do the right and to love goodness,
and to walk humbly with your God.

The Canticle of Mary

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

Intercessions

Grant us forgiveness and peace.
Have mercy on your people, Lord!
May we follow you more faithfully.
Have mercy on your people, Lord!
Pour forth your Spirit upon all people.
Have mercy on your people, Lord!
Dear Father,
May we always walk in the light of your law. Fill us with your radiance. We ask this in the name of Jesus who lives with you and the Holy Spirit for all eternity. Amen.
