Jesus does what he wills. We often think we can do whatever we want to do. But if we want to do good, sometimes we aren’t able to do it. And sometimes instead we decide to do bad. Jesus only wants to do good and he has the power to do it.

Jesus is the one who gives us our true name. He gave Peter a new name because now he was going to be a rock to lend stability to others. He knows who each one of us truly is.

Jesus is the Good Tree. He provides us with nourishment, shade from the heart and protection from storms.

“Enter through the narrow gate”

Jesus is the Narrow Gate. He is the way to salvation and love. Every other way leads us away from our true happiness.

“Stop judging, that you may not be judged.”

Jesus is the only judge. We can not take this job from him because we are not qualified for it. He is the only one who knows everything and can judge with mercy and love.

Jesus is our confidence. He has taken everything into account and has provided all that we need. We do not have to be afraid to trust him and tell others about him.

Jesus is the cousin of St. John the Baptist. Jesus is so much like us that he even has relatives. But that doesn’t stop him from inviting everyone to be part of his family.

Jesus is our treasure. We will find him when we take the time to find out where our heart really is and what it truly desires.

Jesus is our pattern of prayer. Just as he came before his Father at all times, he wants us to come before our Father in all simplicity and ask for what we truly need.

Jesus is our reward. The reward we receive from our good deeds, prayer and fasting is coming closer to Jesus as we become more and more like him.

So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Jesus is perfect. He is the perfect image of the Father’s love. We are not. We sin and make mistakes. How can we ever be perfect? We can only be perfect by becoming one with Jesus. Jesus came so that we might be one with him.

Jesus is someone who lives what he teaches. He doesn’t sit back and expect us to do things that he has not done first. He gives us encouragement by his example.

Jesus is the generous giver of gifts. He has given us everything for free and not because we deserved his gifts. He wants us to do the same.

Jesus is the Divine Yes. He is faithful and will fulfill all of his promises. Mary recognizes this Divine Yes when she ponders in her heart and makes it her own.

No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.

Jesus is the one who knows the Father. Therefore he can show us the Father. The Father’s Heart and the Heart of Jesus have the same love for each one of us.

Jesus is the Lawgiver. But all of his laws can be summed up in this: Love God with everything you have and love your neighbor as yourself.

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.”

Jesus is also the Fulfillment of the Law and the prophetic witness. Everything that came before him, he fulfilled. Everything that comes after him, he restores.

Jesus is the Light of the World. He also calls us the light of the world. He wants us to be so identified with him that we share his mission.

Jesus is the fulfillment of all the Beatitudes. He depends entirely on his Father, weeps for sinners, is meek and humble of heart, hungers and thirst, shows mercy, is entirely turned toward his Father, is our Peace and for all this he was persecuted.

June 11, 2023 Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ

“For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.”

Jesus is True Food. What is food? It is something that allows us to live and grow. When you come to Jesus, he becomes part of you and you become part of him. He gives you the true nourishment you need to grow and to have Eternal Life.

Jesus is the one who loves little things. He notices each little good deed, each little victory over our sins, each small attempt to please him. He knows our weakness and our poverty and this draws him to us.

Jesus is our delight. He has all the words of truth that fill our hearts with joy.

Jesus is the answer to all our questions. When we want to understand, we need to come to him. He will not only give us the right answer but he will lead us to understand the Love that he is.

Jesus is the Living One. He makes all who come to him fully alive if they believe in the words and power of God.

Jesus knows everything. We can not fool him with our words nor our deeds. Instead we need to give him everything because everything belongs to him.

He had one other to send, a beloved son.

Jesus is the Heir. We do not need to cast him out of the vineyard in order to receive the inheritance because he wants to share everything with us.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.

Jesus is not here to condemn us but to do the will of his Father and bestow the gift of the Holy Spirit on us.

Jesus is the one who questions us. Although he knows all the answers, he wants us to think and so come to know who we are and who he is.

Jesus said to them in reply, “Have faith in God. Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him.

Jesus is powerful. He can drive out evil but he can also transform evil into good. We should have faith in his power to heal, forgive and restore.

Jesus is the Son of David. As one of us, he can have compassion on our infirmities and our sins.
