Jesus is the Lamp. With his light shining in our lives, everything is better. We need to keep him in our hearts and minds so that we can see the way that we should take in truth and love.

Jesus is generous. He is the Divine gift and therefore he is willing and able to give himself without holding anything back to anyone who wants to work in his vineyard.

As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.”
Yesterday the people said that Jesus was a friend of sinners. Today we see Jesus as the good Master who calls sinners to be his followers. He doesn’t want us to stay trapped in our sins which makes us sick. He wants us to follow him and be healed.

Jesus is a Friend of sinners. This is really good news for us because not only is he our friend but he has the power to take away our sins.

When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
Jesus is moved by our sorrow. When he looks upon our sorrow and grief, he feels pity for us and gives us the consolation of a Son restored to life.

When Jesus heard this he was amazed at him and, turning, said to the crowd following him, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.”
Jesus is moved by our faith. Our faith is a consolation to his heart because it shows our loving trust in him who wants to do all things for us.

Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave him the loan.
Jesus is both just and merciful. He is just. He knows how weak we are and how much we need his forgiveness. He is merciful. He reaches down to us and covers us with his blessing. Since we have received much more than we deserve, he is just in asking us to share his mercy with others.

Jesus is a person who draws all to himself. He draws us so that he can teach us and heal us. When we draw near to him, we are transformed.
