How many poor farmers who lived almost 1000 years ago do we remember today? Saint Isidore is the patron of Madrid and loved by farmers and the poor in many places.
He and his wife Maria were devoted to God, his Church, each other and the poor. They saw that all these things were united so that working for any of them, they enriched all. Although he was poor himself, Isidore divided his money into three parts: one part for his family, one for the Church and one part for the poor. He always had time for prayer even though he had to work hard.
His life had a beautiful integrity because he could see how all things could give glory to God.
