Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.
O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.
Canticle Revelation 15:3-4
Mighty and wonderful are your works, Lord God Almighty! Righteous and true are your ways, O King of the nations! Who would dare refuse yo honor, or the glory due your name, O Lord? Since you alone are holy, all nations shall come and worship in your presence. Your might deeds are clearly seen.
Reading: Jeremiah 31:7-9
Thus says the Lord: Shout with joy for Jacob, exult at the head of the nations; proclaim your praise and say: The Lord has delivered his people, the remnant of Israel. Behold, I will bring them back from the land of the north I will gather them from the ends of the world, with the blind and the lame in their midst, The mothers and those with child; they shall return as an immense throng. They departed in tears, but I will console them and guide them; I will lead them to brooks of water, on a level road, so that none shall stumble. For I am a father to Israel, Ephraim is my first-born.
The Canticle of Mary
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.
Intercessions
Make us attentive to the needs of those around us. Have mercy on your people, Lord! Lead those who have gone astray back to yourself. Have mercy on your people, Lord! Be with the dying on their journey from this life. Have mercy on your people, Lord!
Dear Jesus, Fill our hearts with joy that we may more readily bear witness to your name. We ask the Father for this in your name in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
