September 17 2022 Daily Prayer

Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.

O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.

Canticle: Ezekiel 36:24-28

I will take you away from among the nations,
gather you from all the foreign lands,
and bring you back to your own land.

I will sprinkle clean water upon you
to cleanse you from all your impurities,
and from all your idols I will cleanse you.

I will give you a new heart
and place a new spirit within you,
taking from your bodies your stony hearts
and giving you natural hearts.

I will put my spirit within you
and make you live by my statutes,
careful to observe my decrees.

You shall live in the land
I gave your fathers;
you shall be my people,
and I will be your God.

Reading: Philippians 4:8, 9b

Your thoughts should be wholly directed to all that is true, all that deserves respect, all that is honest, pure, admirable, decent, virtuous or worthy of praise. Then will the God of peace be with you.

The Canticle of Mary

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

Intercessions

Open our hearts to receive your words.
Lord, hear our prayer!
Strengthen those whose faith is being tested.
Lord, hear our prayer!
May your Church yield abundant fruit.
Lord, hear our prayer!
Dear Jesus,
May we bear a harvest of good fruit. Do not let us become distracted by the cares and worries of life. We ask the Father for this in your name in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
