Through the Lens of Eternal Life

The whole Gospel and every individual part is about the love of God for us. The amazing thing is: God loves us so much that he wants us to live with him forever. As we journey to Easter, let’s consider Eternal Life.

3rd Sunday of Lent (March 3)

“But he was speaking about the Temple of his Body.” (Jn 2:13-25), We are now the Temple of his Body. It is only when we are formed together into one being with Jesus that he can raise us up to Eternal Life.

4th Sunday of Lent (March 10)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” (Jn 3:14-21) Why do we sometimes prefer to live in the darkness when in the light, we can see that God loves us and wants us to live with him forever?

5th Sunday of Lent (March 17)

“And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” (Jn 12:20-33) Jesus came in order to bring everyone back into unity after sin had driven us apart from God and from each other. Eternal Life is returning to an eternal embrace of love.

Palm Sunday (March 24)

“The veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom.” (Mk 14:1—15:47) When Jesus died everything that separated us from God was destroyed. Now we can see God and come near to him in Jesus Christ. Let us praise him for making it possible for us to have Eternal Life.

Easter Sunday (March 31)

The Lord is Risen! Alleluia! “Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.” (Jn 20:1-9) What did he see? He saw that death had been conquered. Jesus had been true to his promises and now we can all live happily ever after. The story never has an end because we will have Eternal Life with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit forever. Amen.
