Leader: O Lord, open my lips. All: And my mouth shall declare your praise.
Come, let us worship the Lord, the King of apostles.

Psalm 116:10-19

I trusted, even when I said:
“I am sorely afflicted,”
and when I said in my alarm:
“No man can be trusted.”

How can I repay the Lord
for his goodness to me?
The cup of salvation I will raise;
I will call on the Lord’s name.

My vows to the Lord I will fulfill
before all his people.
O precious in the eyes of the Lord
is the death of his faithful.

Your servant, Lord, your servant am I;
you have loosened my bonds.
A thanksgiving sacrifice I make:
I will call on the Lord’s name.

My vows to the Lord I will fulfill
before all his people,
in the courts of the house of the Lord,
in your midst, O Jerusalem.

Reading: Ephesians 2:19-22

You are strangers and aliens no longer. No, you are fellow citizens of the saints and members of the household of God. You form a building which rises on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone. Through him the whole structure is fitted together and takes shape as a holy temple in the Lord; in him you are being built into this temple, to become a dwelling place for God in the Spirit.
Pray either the Canticle of Zechariah or the Canticle of Mary. You can find them here.
Antiphon for the Canticle of Zechariah: Jesus took Peter, James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain where they could be alone, and he was transfigured before them.
Antiphon for the Canticle of Mary: The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; when he found one of great value, he sold everything he had and bought it.

Intercessions

May we hear your call.
Lord, have mercy on us!
Forgive us our sins.
Lord, have mercy on us!
Make us merciful as you are merciful.
Lord, have mercy on us!
Dear Jesus,
You called St. James to bear witness to you. May we be strong in our service to you through his intercession. We ask the Father for this in your name in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
