January 15 2022 Daily Prayer

Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.

O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.

Psalm 131

O Lord, my heart is not proud
nor haughty my eyes.
I have not gone after things too great
nor marvels beyond me.

Truly I have set my soul
in silence and peace.
As a child has rest in its mother’s arms,
even so is my soul.

O Israel, hope in the Lord
both now and forever.

Reading: From a letter to the Corinthians by St. Clement

We must recognize, therefore, that all upright men have been graced by good works, and that even the Lord himself took delight in the glory his works gave him. This should inspire us with a resolute determination to do his will and make us put our whole strength into the work of living a Christian life.

The Canticle of Mary

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

Intercessions

We are about to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus,
give us hearts full of joy.
The Holy Spirit guided Mary,
give us hearts full of faith.
Help us to be like Mary, our mother,
give us hearts full of love.
Most loving Father,
You have sent us every good gift. May we praise you now and forever. We ask this in the name of Jesus who lives with you and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
