October 31, 2021 Daily Prayer

Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.

O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.

Psalm 116:10-13

I trusted, even when I said:
"I am sorely afflicted,"
and when I said in my alarm:
"No man can be trusted."

How can I repay the Lord
for his goodness to me?
The cup of salvation I will raise;
I will call on the Lord's name.

Reading: Romans 8:15-16

You did not receive a spirit a slavery leading you back into fear, but a spirit of adoption through which we cry out, "Abba!" (that is, "Father!") The Spirit himself gives witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

The Canticle of Mary

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

Intercessions

We pray for those who are suffering because of the cruelty of others.
Come, Holy Spirit!
We pray for those who are in sadness so that they will be comforted.
Come, Holy Spirit!
We pray for those who are hungry that they would be satisfied.
Come, Holy Spirit!
Dear Father in Heaven,
Send the Holy Spirit to guide us in the way Jesus shows us and help us to reject all that leads us away from you. Amen.
