March 31 2024 Daily Prayer

Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.

O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.

Psalm 118:1-2, 16ab-17, 22-23

Antiphon: The Lord is risen, alleluia!

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good,
for his love endures for ever.
Let the sons of Israel say:
His love endures for ever.

Antiphon: The Lord is risen, alleluia!

The Lord’s right hand has triumphed;
his right hand raised me.
I shall not die, I shall live
and recount his deeds.

Antiphon: The Lord is risen, alleluia!

The stone which the builders rejected
has become the corner stone.
This is the work of the Lord,
a marvel in our eyes.

Antiphon: The Lord is risen, alleluia!

Reading: Romans 6:3-11

Are you not aware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Through baptism into his death we were buried with him, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live a new life.

If we have been united with him through likeness to his death, so shall we be through a like resurrection. This we know: our old self was crucified with him so that the sinful body might be destroyed and we might be slaves to sin no longer. A man who is dead has been freed from sin.

If we have died with Christ, we believe that we are also to live with him. We know that Christ, once raised from the dead, will never die again; death has no more power over him. His death was death to sin, once for all; his life is life for God. In the same way, you must consider yourselves dead to sin but alive for God in Christ Jesus.

Versicle

All say: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad, alleluia.

Intercessions

Today our Savior rose from the dead. Let us ask him:
Send your Spirit into our hearts that we may proclaim your Resurrection,
Risen Lord, hear our prayer!
Destroy in us the power of death,
Risen Lord, hear our prayer!
Raise up the dead to be like you in glory,
Risen Lord, hear our prayer!

Te Deum

You are God: we praise you;
You are the Lord: we acclaim you;
You are the eternal Father:
All creation worships you.

To you all angels, all the powers of heaven,
Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise:
Holy, holy, holy Lord God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.

The glorious company of apostles praise you.
The noble fellowship of prophets praise you.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise you.

Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you;
Father, of majesty unbounded,
your true and only Son, worthy of all worship,
and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.

You, Christ, are the king of glory,
the eternal Son of the Father.

When you became man to set us free
you did not shun the Virgin’s womb.

You overcame the sting of death
and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.

You are seated at God’s right hand in glory.
We believe that you will come and be our judge.

Come then, Lord, and help your people,
bought with the price of your own blood,
and bring us with your saints
to glory everlasting.
Dear Jesus,
May your victory over death bring us hope. As we remember your Resurrection, may we be filled with joy at your victory. We ask the Father for this in your name in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
