April 18 2022 Daily Prayer

Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.

O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.

Psalm 19:1-6

The heavens proclaim the glory of God,
and the firmament shows forth the work of his hands.
Day unto day takes up the story
and night unto night makes known the message.

No speech, no word, no voice is heard
yet their span extends through all the earth,
their words to the utmost bounds of the world.

There he has placed a tent for the sun;
it comes forth like a bridegroom coming from his tent,
rejoices like a champion to run its course.

At the end of the sky is the rising of the sun;
to the furthest end of the sky is its course.
There is nothing concealed from its burning heat.

Reading: 2 Timothy 2:8, 11

Remember that Jesus Christ, a descendant of David, was raised from the dead. This is the gospel I preach. You can depend on this: If we have died with him we shall also live with him.

The Canticle of Mary

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

Intercessions

Our Savior has risen from the dead. Let us ask him:
May we seek the things that are above,
Risen Lord, hear our prayer!
Show your mercy to the sick and the dying,
Risen Lord, hear our prayer!
May the light of your Resurrection shine on those who have no hope,
Risen Lord, hear our prayer!
Father,
You raised Jesus from the dead. May the light of his Resurrection shine in our hearts and make us more eager to serve you. We ask this through Jesus your Son in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
