Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.
O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.
O give thanks to the Lord for he is good, for his love endures for ever Give thanks to the God of gods for his love endures for ever Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his love endures for ever; who alone has wrought marvelous works, for his love endures for ever; whose wisdom it was made the skies, for his love endures for ever; who fixed the earth firmly on the seas, for his love endures for ever. It was he who made the great lights, for his love endures for ever; the sun to rule in the day, for his love endures for ever; the moon and the stars in the night, for his love endures for ever.
Reading: Jeremiah 6:16a
Stand beside the earliest roads, ask the pathways of old Which is the way to good, and walk it; thus you will find rest for your souls.
The Canticle of Mary
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.
May priests and bishops be filled with the zeal of the apostles. Lord hear our prayer! Empower us to spread the Gospel. Lord hear our prayer! Raise up more priests to serve you. Lord hear our prayer!
Heavenly Father, You called St. Barnabas to preach the Gospel. Through his intercession may we share his missionary spirit. We ask this through Jesus, your Son, in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
