Every day, we will post a few brief prayers inspired by the Liturgy of the Hours.
O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.
O praise the Lord, all you nations, acclaim him, all you peoples! Strong is his love for us; he is faithful for ever.
Reading: From a treatise on the Lord’s Prayer by St. Cyprian
God taught us to pray not only by his words, but also by his actions. He taught us by his own example for he often prayed on our behalf. The Scripture says: He withdrew to the wilderness and prayed. And again: He went into the hills to pray and he spent the whole night in prayer to God. Was the sinless Lord praying for himself? No, he was praying and interceding on our behalf.
The Canticle of Mary
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.
Calm the fears and worries of our hearts. Lord, hear our prayer! Provide food and clothing for those who have none. Lord, hear our prayer! May we seek your Kingdom above all else. Lord, hear our prayer!
Dear Father, May we always strive to do your will and seek your Kingdom. May we follow you with our whole heart. We ask this through Jesus, your Son, in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
