Leader: O Lord, open my lips. All: And my mouth shall declare your praise.
Come, let us worship the Lord, the King of apostles.
Psalm 110:1-5, 7
Leader: John gave testimony to the Word of God; he gave witness to Jesus Christ whom he had seen.
The heavens proclaim the glory of God
and the firmament shows forth the work of his hands.
Day unto day takes up the story
and night unto night makes known the message.
All: John gave testimony to the Word of God; he gave witness to Jesus Christ whom he had seen.
No speech, no word, no voice is heard
yet their span extends through all the earth,
their words to the utmost bounds of the world.
All: John gave testimony to the Word of God; he gave witness to Jesus Christ whom he had seen.
There he has placed a tent for the sun;
it comes forth like a bridegroom coming from his tent,
rejoices like a champion to run its course.
All: John gave testimony to the Word of God; he gave witness to Jesus Christ whom he had seen.
At the end of the sky is the rising of the sun;
to the furthest end of the sky is its course.
There is nothing concealed from its burning heat.
All: John gave testimony to the Word of God; he gave witness to Jesus Christ whom he had seen.
Glory to the Father...
All: John gave testimony to the Word of God; he gave witness to Jesus Christ whom he had seen.
Reading: 1 John 1:1-4
This is what we proclaim to you: what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and our hands have touched (concerning the word of life–and the life was revealed, and we have seen and testify and announce to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us). What we have seen and heard we announce to you too, so that you may have fellowship with us (and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ). Indeed our purpose in writing you this is that our joy may be complete.
Pray either the Canticle of Zechariah or the Canticle of Mary. You can find them here.
Antiphon for the Canticle of Zechariah: The Word was made flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory.
Antiphon for the Canticle of Mary: The child Jesus remained in Jerusalem and, his parents did not know it. They thought he was in the group of travelers and looked for him among their relatives and friends.
Te Deum
You are God: we praise you;
You are the Lord: we acclaim you;
You are the eternal Father:
All creation worships you.
To you all angels, all the powers of heaven,
Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise:
Holy, holy, holy Lord God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
The glorious company of apostles praise you.
The noble fellowship of prophets praise you.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise you.
Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you;
Father, of majesty unbounded,
your true and only Son, worthy of all worship,
and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.
You, Christ, are the king of glory,
the eternal Son of the Father.
When you became man to set us free
you did not shun the Virgin’s womb.
You overcame the sting of death
and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.
You are seated at God’s right hand in glory.
We believe that you will come and be our judge.
Come then, Lord, and help your people,
bought with the price of your own blood,
and bring us with your saints
to glory everlasting.
The Word was made man, alleluia.
— He lived among us, alleluia.
