Jesus is the one who calls. He is always calling to us. Our job is to respond with all that we have and are.

Jesus is Wisdom. While the world rages and threatens, he shows us the way to peace. We are to trust in his wisdom to guide us safely home.

Jesus is the one to follow. He will not deceive us and he will make sure that we come safely through all the difficulties of this life.

Jesus sees into the depths. He doesn’t just see our actions, he sees our whole being. This is a very good thing because his gaze is full of healing power.

Jesus is hungry, thirsty, naked, homeless, sick and in prison. Do you see him? Do you take care of him? Do you serve him with love?

Jesus is Lord of the living. Jesus has risen from the dead so that now all of us can live forever in him. WHen we live in the Lord of life, we will never really die.

Jesus is always teaching us. But do we hang on his words? Or are we busy trying to find a way to kill his words?

Jesus is the one to thank. He is there for us when we cry out to him and he has blessed us with so many things. How can you repay him? Thank him!

While people were listening to Jesus speak, he proceeded to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the Kingdom of God would appear there immediately.

Jesus is a story teller. He tells stories that make us grow and change as we live the story of our lives.

Jesus is the one who brings conversion—if we let him. If we are truly trying to see him and know him then our lives will be transformed and we will give generously to those in need.

Jesus is true vision. He sees what is truly important for each one of us. If we try to see with his every we will value the things that he values and not be like the busybody crowd who worried about things that were of no concern to God.

Jesus is a traveler. He came from Heaven to save us, he walked the roads of this earth to serve us and even when he travels away from us it is to teach us to follow him, to trust him, and to be like him.

Jesus is our security. He will make sure that we have all that we need. We can ask him for what we need and he will hear us.

“Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it.”

Jesus is an “interruption”. What do I mean by that? Many times you can be going about your daily lives not giving him a thought and then suddenly he appears and asks you for something. And your little plans are interrupted. On the other hand, if you are living your life for him, you will welcome his appearances as a continuation and fulfillment.

“For just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.”

Jesus is like lightning. When everything seems dark he suddenly shines in our lives and makes everything light.

Jesus is our reason to be grateful. He has done great deeds for us and the only payment he wants is love and gratitude.

“We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.”

Jesus is the One to obey. He gave us the perfect example of obedience because he always obeyed the will of his Father. He knows that if we obey him, we will arrive at the place where he is.

Jesus is the One who fills us with faith. Our faith increases the more that we experience and live in the love of God.

Jesus is the Bridegroom. We have promised him our lives in baptism. Only we can give him our very selves.

Jesus is the one who knows our hearts. But do we know our hearts? DO we love him our true master or do we love and serve someone else?

“A rich man had a steward who was reported to him for squandering his property.”

Jesus is our master. He wants us to take good care of all the people and things he has entrusted to our care. He especially wants us to distribute the mercy that he has given us.

Jesus is the Temple. When we pray, no matter where we are, we need to pray through Jesus and as Jesus so that our prayers will be heard by our Father.

“In the same way, everyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.”

Jesus is the Way. Therefore he wants to make sure that we stay on the right path. We cannot follow him half-heartedly. All our desire must be to be with him and we can’t let anything become an obstacle.

Jesus is the Host. He invites us to the banquet of Holy Communion in this life and the banquet of eternal life in the next. Will you say yes?

“For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

Jesus is the one who repays. Even though he has no duty to give us anything, he desires to give us himself in reward for any small service we give him.

Jesus is single-minded. He lives the words he speaks. He has no desire except to do the will of his Father and to teach us to do the same.

“For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Lk 14:1, 7-11

Jesus is the most humble person. No one else has come down from heaven to be the servant of all the sinners on earth. Therefore he has taken his seat at the right hand of the Father.

“Is it lawful to cure on the sabbath or not?”

Jesus is always compassionate. He doesn’t take days off from doing good to all who come to him seeking forgiveness and healing.

“Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me.”

Jn 6:37-40

Jesus is the one who perfectly fulfills his Father’s will. He does not reject anyone who comes to him. He keeps us safe and brings us to eternal life.

“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”

Mt 5:1-12a

Jesus is the fulfillment of each Beatitude and he is also the reward. He is the Kingdom, our Comfort, our inheritance, satisfaction, the Merciful One, God, the Son of God and our reward. He is all we need.
