Today we remember the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Mary, the Apostles, and the first Christians. The Holy Spirit desires to continue his work of sanctification in the Church. What can we do to prepare for his coming anew into our lives?
First, remember that the Church was gathered together in one place. The Holy Spirit is a lover of unity. Strive for unity and peace.
Next, realize what a gift the Holy Spirit is in our lives. He is the very spirit of God who made all things and he wants to live with us! Be grateful.
Furthermore, we are able to work with him! The Holy Spirit testifies to the Resurrection and so do we. But remember that the Holy Spirit is given to those who obey God. (Acts 5:32)
Finally, the Holy Spirit always brings joy. Let rejoicing in the Lord be your strength.
Come, Holy Spirit, and breathe in my life that I may be united to your church, grateful for your love, obedient to your call, and joyful with your Spirit.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. (2 Cor. 13:13)
