Backyard Safari: What Visits Sunflowers?

For the introduction to this series, see here.

Sunflowers are creature magnets! Today I went on a backyard safari. I spent about half an hour watching a clump of seven sunflowers for interesting creatures. In that short amount of time, all the creatures in the pictures visited the flowers or leaves of the plants! If you want to attract creatures to your yard, one of the best ways is to plant sunflowers. All summer, the flowers will attract insects. In the fall, birds and squirrels will come to eat the seeds. (Of course, the flowers are nice to look at as well). Go out in your yard and see how many different creatures you can find in half an hour.
