Look at the eyes of this grasshopper. I always think it looks like it is half asleep or very bored. This grasshopper is one that you might see in early spring since the young grasshoppers overwinter in the ground. Though there are exceptions, females are usually green and males are usually brown. Based on this general rule, the one in the pictures is probably a female.
